In one medieval legend, human <--> wolf shapeshifting is linked to clothing. In 1198, Marie de France, a Breton writer, composed "Bisclavret," also known as the "Lay of a Werewolf." In this tale, a shapeshifter/knight regains human form after his clothing is returned. The reverse...

What about a lunar eclipse?

When the full moon is exactly aligned with the earth, instead of getting a 100% full moon, the moon is eclipsed by the earth's shadow.

At other times when the moon is "full," it's never 100% illuminated because a sliver of it is still in shadow.

Maybe someone should claim that the crescent moon is linked to a weredeer transformation? Deer activity, especially during the fall rut season, is widely believed to be linked to the lunar cycle. The "horns" of the crescent are also likened by some to deer antlers.

I only know of one book featuring an obese shapeshifter. In Andrew Fox's 2003 novel, "Fat White Vampire Blues," a Louisiana vampire weighs over 450 pounds in his human form. When he turns into a bat or a wolf, he can barely move. Eventually, he overcomes this problem by shapeshifting into ...

Height & Posture

Perhaps the question of height / posture should be tied to foot position. If a werewolf is digitigrade, would it be able to comfortably walk in a bipedal manner? For something as large as a human, aren't plantigrade feet better? Among carnivores, both bears and wolves fit into the "arctoid"...
