Oh oh oh - an SAS-style/commando soldier, fully kitted out in body armour, HUD, all the bells and whistles etc., armed only with a knife, duking it out with a werewolf in midform. I personally would like to see them as partners . :D ("Can't we all just get along?") My werecreatures are me...

When you say "cool", do you mean something that defers from the overused "native american" motif/treehugger styled ones that populate the interweb? :) Yay, I'm not the only one! :D I keep thinking of a werewolf in tribal garb standing heroically amidst majestic scenery as a mode...

Attitude is important, of course, but werewolves can have different moods and different personalities. And from what I can tell, there are very few human elements to the head aside from the way it attaches to the body. Of course, Goldie seems to have deliberately portrayed him as unthreatening and f...

That seems to be the term 00airknight uses for a werewolf "alpha". I've seen him use it elsewhere, and figured it out from context.

The way I look at it, different forms do affect the werewolf's mindset, but not necessarily in the usual "raaarrr!" way. I'll assume human form as a baseline, and work relative to that. I also assume no radical "multiple personality disorder" style changes or loss of memory. I al...

But not the right image of how a werewolf should look, IMO.
I think that'd be fine for a werewolf in a happy, lazy mood. Wolves can look cute when they want to. :D

As an exercise, I counted out ten seconds while visualizing a shift. Unless the werewolf is "pushing" the change to go faster than normal, ten seconds is indeed rather fast. Perhaps some werewolves could change that fast naturally, but it should be a fairly rare and special ability. Twenty...

I'm assuming a class-based framework like Star Wars Battlefront and the Battlefield series, and each class would feature significantly different appearance, armament, and abilities. As with SWBF, the sides would share some common roles (with side-specific names) along with some side-specific special...

I'm trying hard to avoid sterotypical high-fantasy swords and sorcery, mostly by clamping things down to mostly paranormal/supernatural as much as possible. It's more a matter of artifacts left behind by an ancient Earth-based civilization of 10,000-20,000 years ago (Atlantis, Lemuria, Mu, etc.) tha...

I'd prefer that size and build were relatively predictable, as there are plenty of other features you can do that with. Size isn't everything, as the saying goes; attitude counts for a lot. :D

I'm sort of tied down with Pandemic, so I can't work on a commercial product externally. I also tried working on a noncommercial product in my free time, but my free time tended to run dangerously scarce when things got busy at work, and I nearly exhausted myself trying. Such is the life of a profes...

The ideal case is adult stem cells from the patient, or coercing adult somatic cells back into stem cells. That has the added benefit of avoiding immune response.

I've read the Komodo dragon isn't venomous, it's just that the bacteria in its saliva are just that numerous/virulent. Its serrated teeth trap septic bacteria, and its prey succumbs to an overwhelming blood infection even if it manages to escape. (A Discovery Channel documentary about Tyrannosaurus...

I finally found cranial volume measurements! (Harder than I expected...) Wolf: 150 to 170 cm3 (from here ) Human: 1200 to 1500 cm3 (from here Cranial volume is not quite the same as brain size, as there's a fair amount of cerebrospinal fluid in there as padding. Still, it's close enough for our purp...

I got those figures from a chart listing brain and body mass for a bunch of different species. The wolf brain was 119.5g and the human brain was 1320g, so I was already cheating with the 10-20% figure. :D http://www.npr.org/programs/atc/features/2005/may/wolf/wolf6kiss300.jpg A wolf's head is alread...

For anatomically-accurate wolf form, at least, that was where I was inevitably headed. I'm not sure how much functionality could be preserved with 10%-20% of the brain volume, but it could be just barely enough to conserve personality and basic memories. For this reason, werewolves might be reluctan...

Hmmmmm..... Since you're a senior programmer, do you think you can make a "Freeborn" video game? (After you get the "OK" from ABrownrigg, that is.) :D Well, that's more a buisiness decision, and well outside my purview. Pandemic Studios also tends towards action shooter games wi...

I didn't want to assume it as a given, even if it's the way I handle my characters. It's not as cut-and-dried for the wolf form if you want it to pass for a structurally-normal if large wolf. A human's brain is 11 times larger than a wolf's brain, so a simple scaling-up would yield a nearly half-ton...
